Elkin Presbyterian Church is proud to be the home of a Montessori based preschool that provides an opportunity for young children in the community to learn important academic and social skills before entering kindergarten.

Elkin Presbyterian Church Preschool is a 3-day program,Tuesday through Thursday, with a 4-day option for ages 1-3 and a 4-day program for PreK (age 4).  The classes provide age appropriate instruction in a church based setting.

Our primary goal is to provide quality, loving care.  We offer flexible daily activities including art, music, math, science, language, stories and recreation designed to meet each age group’s developmental and creative needs.

The preschool operates from August to June, following the Elkin City Schools calendar for holidays and workdays.

Preschool Mission and Vision

Vision Statement

Elkin Presbyterian Church recognizes that all children are creative and curious; that all children need to succeed; and that each child is a unique individual created by God for a special purpose. Our church’s mission is to help children develop active, creative minds; a sense of understanding and compassion for others; and the confidence to succeed in elementary school. We stress the total development of each child: spiritual, educational, intellectual, social, emotional and physical.
Therefore, we seek to create a challenging learning environment that encourages high expectations for success through development-¬appropriate instruction that allows for individual differences and learning styles. We promote a safe, orderly, caring and supportive environment, and each student’s self-¬esteem is fostered by positive relationships with other students and staff. We also strive to have our parents, teachers, community members and church congregation actively involved in our students’ learning. It is the church’s mission to meet these needs through supplemental educational, financial and facility support.

Mission Statement

  • To provide a safe, fun, and creative learning environment.
  • To expose children to and develop interests in art, music, movement, health, science and discovery, and language and math activities.
  • To learn through play and to exercise creativity and imaginations.
  • To nurture children socially, physically, mentally and spiritually.
  • To give children the tools they need to succeed in elementary school.
