EMBRACE LOVE & PEACE
Elkin Presbyterian Church
Focus on Mission
The theme, βNourishing Body and Soul,β adopted by our Session, embodies the mission of Elkin Presbyterian church, which is to reach out in Christian love to those in need locally and globally. To that end, EPC is focusing on following Jesus by feeding hungry people.
To further refine this focus locally, EPC is promoting the needs of local missions and organizations to alleviate the problem of hunger. In order to have the most impact, we will focus our collective efforts around a mission or organization for a quarter of the year. While these groups have been supported by our church in the past, this focus will give us an opportunity to provide greater help to each mission or organization.
Tri-County Christian Crisis Ministry (Tri-C)
School Backpack Mission is the second focus, with an initiative to provide backpacks filled with easily prepared food for those students who may suffer from hunger during the summer vacation from school.

Educate A Child / Transform The World
We have been able to use generous contributions from the congregation to support students in our local school system!
We provide food bags including packaged breakfasts, lunches, dinners and snack items to students that are experiencing food insecurity at Elkin Elementary School and Elkin High School.
We look forward to expanding our work in 2026 and living further into our covenant, as Presbyterians, βto our common commitment of joining in Godβs ongoing transformation of the world by working and advocating to ensure equitable, accessible, quality public education so that all people, created in the image of God, may grow into the fullness of life.β
Gun Violence Prevention
We grieve for those who are killed and those whose lives are forever changed;
We seek to comfort those who have lost loved ones;
We pray for a change of heart for those who resort to violenceβ¦.
βOne of the greatest sins a church can commit is being boring and irrelevantβ¦To represent the Gospel, the church has to recognize and take a stand on the ethical issues of its times, or else what is it for?β
Christopher B. Hayes | Professor, Fuller Theological Seminary
βWhile you may choose to be silent when it comes to gun violence out of concern for who may anger, your silence is also sending a message to those who are most impacted by gun violence [women, children, youth, LGBTQ+, and people of color] that their trauma and suffering donβt matter.β
